Flood subsides in many provinces

KHON KAEN, 1 November 2017 (NNT) - Ubol Ratana Dam had started to discharge less water to reduce the effects on the areas below it. Khon Kaen province is urgently pumping water out of the submerged areas expected to resume normal conditions in two weeks.

The dam has decreased a discharge rate from 38 to 30 million cubic meters per day as instructed by the prime minister. Apart from Nam Phong district in Khon Kaen, Mueang district is still heavily flooded. More than 30 pumps have been deployed to pump the flood water out to the Chi river for 24 hours a day.

The provincial administrative organization has sent large machines and equipment to repair roads and bridges damaged by the floods in 26 districts after the affected areas dry out.

In Ang Thong, people in the flooded areas along the Chao Phraya river have started to lack supplies and clean drinking water. More than 3,000 households in Mueang, Chaiyo, Pa Moke, Wiset Chaichan and Pho Thong have been affected by the flooding. The residents have been reportedly stressful and infected with athlete's foot. The provincial administration has already sent its staff to provide assistance for them.

In Ayutthaya, Provincial Governor Suchin Chaichumsak said the flood has already subsided. The governor instructed relevant units to survey the damage in order to help the affected people. Supplies have been given to them.

The flood in Kamphaeng Phet has also subsided. 500 sets of supplies were given to the flood-affected people in Tambon Wang Sai, Khlong Khun district.
