Flood situation in the South has been better

BANGKOK, 13 April 2011 (NNT) – Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister Panitan Wattanayagorn said floods in the South of Thailand have subsided and victims will receive relief funds after Songkran Festival.

According to Mr. Panitan, the Cabinet has approved another budget of 935 million THB to reconstruct roads damaged by the flood. Many roads have been inaccessible making it difficult for rescue teams to reach flood victims.

The 5,000-THB compensation money for each family will be delivered as soon as the long holidays are over as related document still needs to be checked. Meanwhile, the government will sell one ton of inexpensive fertilizer to southern farmers to help them cope with rising fertilizer prices.
