BANGKOK, 13 January 2017 (NNT) - The government will introduce a flood rehabilitation program, which was used in 2011, to help flood victims get back on their feet.
Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Ormsin Chivapruck, who also serves as Secretary-General of Command Center for Monitoring Situation, revealed that the government will use the same approach to assisting flood victims this year as the previous administration did in 2011.
The minister said the rehabilitation program will involve related agencies helping to restore flood victims' homes, provide temporary means of public transportation in and out of flooded areas, as well as distributing food and drinking water.
Mr. Ormsin also received a donation of 500,000 baht from the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority to help flood victims in 12 southern provinces. The total sum of cash donations to the Prime Minister’s Office is currently over nine million baht.
