BANGKOK, 10 May 2012 (NNT) - Deputy Governor of Bangkok Malinee Sukavejworakit has expressed confidence that disaster management strategies of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) can be immediately applied when an actual disaster takes place.
The Bangkok deputy governor on Thursday chaired a training for middle-level executives of the BMA and visited the “Center for the Management of Future Disasters: 9R” where four strategies to tackle disasters were presented. The strategies address four disaster-related issues, consisting of disaster rehabilitation, network management, assurance of safety for disaster victims and management of unexpected situations.
Ms. Malinee said the center could operate immediately since it was equipped with systems and facilities which could provide prompt assistance for disaster victims. The center has borrowed disaster prevention guidelines from Japan and will adapt them to the situation in Thailand as it sees fit.
