BAAC opens accounts for donations to help quake victims

BANGKOK, 20 May 2014; Mr. Adul Kanjanawat, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has announced that the revered monk Wor Watchiramethee, and National Artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, together with the BAAC, have opened several bank accounts, accepting donations from the public in their bid to provide assistance to quake victims in the north of Thailand.

The accounts are identified as the Fund for Helping the Quake Victims in Chiang Rai, and willing individuals can deposit their donations in these BAAC Chiang Rai accounts; 020035894213, 020035893916, 020035893500, 020035894386, 020035894506. Organizers said the funds will be spent restoring temples, residences, schools and hospitals damaged in the recent quake as well as to provide necessary aid to the quake victims.

In addition, the BAAC has introduced a new lottery savings scheme which consists of 60 million units with a 500 baht price tag each, amounting to a total of 30 billion baht. The new lottery replaces the previous one which will reach its maturity date in August. Mr. Adul added that, by purchasing units in the raffle, buyers will be contributing to the quake relief effort on top of having a chance to win 20 million baht every month over the course of 36 months.

The Deputy Managing Director said each lottery purchase would contribute one baht to the fund, thus offering 60 million baht if all the lottery units were sold.
