Assistance from the Government of Romania for post-flood rehabilitation efforts

Bangkok, 28 December 20011 - Mr. Gruia Jacota, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Romania, presented a donation of EUR 25.000 (1,022,000 Baht) to Mr. Phan Wannamethee, Secretary General of the Thai Red Cross Society. The purpose of the donation is to make a contribution to the post-flood efforts in support of the flood affected families, especially rehabilitation of schools in flood affected areas.

As the Romanian diplomat noted, “We have a deep feeling of solidarity with the Thai families affected by the floods, having experienced in the recent years the loss of dear ones and devastation of property brought by torrents caused in the Carpathian Mountains as a result of abundant rains. The Romanian Government has therefore decided to send a donation to support the post-flood rehabilitation activities of the Thai Red Cross”.

The Secretary General expressed sincere thanks to the Romanian Government for the donation. The funds will be used by the Thai Red Cross to help the people affected by the flooding to return to normal life.
