MALAYSIA AND THAILAND
Monsoon season continues across Thailand. According to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), as of 25 November, flooding in 11 provinces in the central plains has affected 487,640 people. While monsoon activity has eased in the North and central plains, it has intensified over the Gulf of Thailand, the South and the Andaman Sea since 17 November, bringing widespread torrential rain across southern Thailand. DDPM reports that nine southern provinces have been affected, with 13 fatalities and more than 2 million people impacted. In Songkhla, one of the hardest-hit provinces, evacuation operations are underway as heavy rainfall and flooding continued. Government is leading the relief operations to the affected communities. Officials expect the situation to ease within 3 to 5 days as rainfall forecast shows a downward trend. In Malaysia, the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) reports flooding across eight northern states (Kelantan, Perlis, Perak, Selangor, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Terengganu and Pahang), displacing 24,907 people (8,308 families) who are currently sheltering in 125 evacuation centres. The Government of Malaysia is leading the response, closely monitoring developments and issuing regular updates and advisories.
