BANGKOK, 17 October 2013 (NNT) - The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation revealed that 22 provinces nationwide continued to suffer from flooding and nearly 675,000 households remained affected.
DDPM chief said so far 46 provinces had been hit by the floods and over 1 million residents or 5.78 percent of the total population had been affected. Out of the total number, flooding had eased in 24 provinces.
Residents in 22 provinces are still at risk of more flooding, with Prachin Buri and Chachoengsao being the worst hit. Other flood-hit provinces include Nakhon Ratchasima, Ayutthaya and Lop Buri.
Overall, the department said the situation was improving but dam-adjacent areas and low-lying communities outside flood barriers continued to suffer flooding.
