BUILDING CAPACITY OF MALARIA CONTROL PROGRAMME IN TAJIKISTAN

Strengthening of the material & technical base, as well as institutional development of malaria control service is one of the core priority areas within implementation of UNDP Malaria Project funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria in Tajikistan. Beginning from 2006 up to present UNDP has had supplied equipment and commodities to the Ministry of Health amounting above USD 2.8 mil. (including cars, bicycles, office equipment etc.) It should also be mentioned that starting from 2006 UNDP uninterruptedly supplied all medical facilities both in cities and districts with necessary laboratory items including microscopes, lancets, glasses, chemical stains, methanol, and others to implement the Programme in the country.

On 5th March of 2010 the handover ceremony of office equipment (computers, printers and etc.) at the amount of 13.387 USD took place at the Republican Center to fight Tropical Diseases. The given equipment is designed for integrating Malaria database, which is used for collection and systematization of statistics data on Malaria flowing from all districts in the country to the capital.

- In order of successful integration of malaria database and with reference to the decree from MoH RT, four-day training was organized by RCTDC for 10 specialists from GBAO, Soghd oblast and RRS in March 16-19, 2010. Similar workshop is scheduled for specialists from Khatlon oblast and Kurgan-Tube in March, 2010.

- In order of correct registration of malaria reporting forms, the RCTDC conducted fiveday training for 25 specialists of sanitary service (parasitologists, entomologists and epidemiologists) from GBAO, Dushanbe and RRS in March 16-20, 2010. Similar training planned for specialists from Kurgan-Tube in March and for specialists from Khodjent in April, 2010.
