Tajikistan: the FSD plunges into mourning after the tragic death of a Tajik deminer

The FSD is shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic accident which killed the civil deminer Azam Abdusattorov Wednesday 27 of June on a mine field on the Kirghochak site, at 60 kilometers far from Dushanbe.

The FSD is currently conducting an internal investigation and provides full assistance to the independent board of inquiry constituted by the TMAC.

FSD has been active in Tajikistan since 2002 in partnership with the OSCE and has been carrying out technical surveys and demining operations since 2003. FSD has trained over 300 deminers since start of operations and released 1.3 millions square metres of agricultural land. FSD's operations in Tajikistan are currently financed by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Canada, the USA and Germany.

At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of our deceased colleague, Azam ABDUSATTOROV.
