An earthquake of 5.8 M at a depth of 12.6 km occurred on 13 April at 04.24 UTC (9.24 local time) in the district of Tajikistan, central Tajikistan. The epicentre was located about 25 km east of Rasht district. An aftershock of 4.7 M has been recorded in the same area at 14.34 UTC.
USGS PAGER estimates that up to 36,000 people were exposed to strong shaking, and 122,000 to moderate shaking.
According to media, as of 14 April, one child died in the Rasht district due to a collapsed building, and 29 houses have been damaged across Safedkunda, Gulkhani, Kul, and Askalon villages in the same district, and Buston, Anvar Qalandarov, and Ganishob of the Tojikobod district.
