Situation Overview

Clean-up operations continue and the flood-affected in Kulob City are being consolidated into two tent camps and three educational facilities. Additional assessments are underway. A GoT request for assistance was issued on 12 May 2010. A translated copy of the official assistance requests is provided in Annex B.

The government indicates that 40 deaths, 33 still missing, an excess of 300 seriously injured, with total damage of over US$ 600 million have occurred due to disasters since the beginning of

2010. Further, a total of 4,104 houses have been damaged (of which 683 fully destroyed) and 78 schools and pre-schools, 19 medical institutions, 130 bridges, 59 km of river embankments, 48 km of water supply lines and sewage systems damaged, with 3,098 livestock deaths due to the flooding.
