The following information was provided by REACT Kulob and focuses on the situation in the city of Kulob. Additional information on disaster impact and relief operations will be provided in the following situation report.
Situation Overview
Disaster survivors currently relocated in Kulob City:
- 317 families (1,679) families in the Kulob sports stadium
- 41 families (315 persons) at the State Pedagogical College dormitories
- 33 families (176 persons) in School # 4
One tent camp (213 tents) is operational in the Kulob sports stadium (see map below). An area has been allocated next to the stadium for the establishment of another tent camp for 200 families. A total of 40 families in RCST tents in the Kulob bus station parking lot are to be relocated to new camp area. Other flood-displaced individuals are staying with families and relatives, and in a dormitory of the State Pedagogical College.
Deputy Prime Minister Alimardon has been assigned by the President as Head of Commission to coordinate relief and response operations in the areas affected by floods in Kulob and surrounding districts. The RCST is responsible for coordination of international assistance of the stadium camp. REACT Secretariat for Kulyab will coordinate overall information management about the camps and will be in close contact with the State Commission to ensure coordinated flow of information on regular basis.
Information will be available on other disaster-affected areas after the REACT Rapid Response Team (RRT) assessment is completed on 13 May 2010.
