Our spokesperson Chris Gunness has the following to say on the situation in Yarmouk Camp
"UNRWA has gained access to the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk in Damascus today and has started distributing food parcels.
"After a break of three days, UNRWA was able to resume its food distributions to the civilians in Yarmouk yesterday (27 March). UNRWA distribution teams reached Bateekhah Square in northern Yarmouk at 10:00 yesterday and started work at the distribution point at 12:20. We finished at 16:00 having distributed 300 food parcels. Since 18 January UNRWA has distributed 9,673 food parcels in Yarmouk where there are some 20,000 people, including 18,000 Palestinians.
"UNRWA remains deeply concerned about the desperate humanitarian situation in Yarmouk and strongly urges all concerned parties to ensure substantial, secure and sustained humanitarian access in compliance with Security Council resolution 2139 unanimously adopted on 22 February."
