Highlights
Between the 29 September and 28 December 2024, epi-weeks 40-52, 5,116,138 consultations including 1,033,312 (20.2%) notifiable diseases have been reported to both Early Warning, Alert, and Response System (EWARS) in Syria Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) operational areas and Early Warning Alert and Response Network (EWARN) in Northwest Syria (NWS) as well as Northeast Syria (NES) which is served by both systems.
A total of 1,942 sentinel surveillance sites reported to both EWARS and EWARN between epi-weeks 40 and 52, with a combined average of 90.5% completeness and 82% timeliness.
A total of 728 alerts were raised to both EWARS (613) and EWARN (115), 618 alerts were verified within 72 hours (85%), AWD and measles continue to be ongoing outbreak in Whole of Syria (WoS).
Proportional morbidity
During epi-weeks 40-52, 2024, a total of 1,942 sentinel surveillance sites reported to both EWARS (1,517 sentinel sites) in HCT operational areas including NES and to EWARN (425 sentinel sites) in both NWS and NES; with an average of 93% completeness and 87% timeliness.
During epi-weeks 40-52, 1,033,312 notifiable disease cases were reported, out of which the leading causes of morbidity among all age groups were Influenza Like Illnesses (ILI) 708,641 (69%), Acute Diarrhea (OAD) 273,767 (27%), Acute Jaundice Syndrome (AJS) 15,070 (1%), Leishmaniasis 13,406 (1%), and SARI 8,376 (1%).
