Highlights

• WFP assisted 135,300 people across Syria in January, including 82,750 people through cash-based transfers worth a total of USD 1.5 million.

• Following the discontinuation of the large-scale nationwide General Food Assistance (GFA) programme in December 2023, WFP continues preparations to launch the new emergency food assistance programme.

• Food prices continued to increase. Average incomes can only cover a fraction of one family’s food needs - a fifth for a family that earns minimum wage.
