SITUATION ANALYSIS

About a quarter of the Syrian population is in need of non-food items (NFIs) assistance across nearly all governorates. The ongoing conflict continues to result in new displacements requiring an emergency response. The needs of newly displaced, short-term, long-term and multiple displaced people, host communities and the non-displaced poor have further increased because of the harsh summer and winter weather conditions and the continued escalation of fuel prices.

HIGHLIGHTS

• As part of UNICEF’s seasonal response, in 2016 more than 672,000 children were reached with clothing kits and blankets, including more than 119,000 children living in hard to reach and besieged areas.

• The use of e-vouchers for clothing kits was scaled up in 2016 to reach more than 39,000 children in Homs, Tartous, Lattakia, Qamishli and Damascus.
