HIGHLIGHTS
- Since 6 March, violence in the coastal region has impacted 60,000 civilians across 82 communities in Lattakia and Tartous, with 36,787 fleeing to Lebanon’s North and Akkar governorates.
- 930 explosive ordnance incidents have been recorded since December, resulting in 372 deaths — including 89 children — and 543 injuries, 212 of them children, underscoring the urgent need for protection and risk education.
- Over 1.2 million internally displaced persons have returned home, including 696,281 children. Additionally, 501,126 Syrian refugees have returned from neighbouring countries since 8 December 2024.
- UNICEF, through its partners, has provided essential services to more than 3.3 million people since the start of the year, with 53 per cent of the beneficiaries being children. Around 97 per cent of the beneficiaries are in areas of extreme and high severity. Among the beneficiaries, over 300,000 were Syrian refugee returnees, including 73 per cent children
