Highlights

  • Tensions and hostilities escalated on coastal governorates on 6 March where the security situation is very fragile.
  • Over 292,000 Syrians have crossed back into Syria from neighbouring countries since 8 December.
  • The total number of civilians killed or injured in accidents involving landmines and other explosive debris since 8 December 2024 is over 400.
  • In Northeast Syria, an estimated 108 schools are being used as shelters, disrupting the education of 64,600 children (29,070 girls).
  • In Northwest Syria, 636,000 people in camps are deprived of WASH services.
  • UNICEF's negotiations enabled the rehabilitation of Tishreen Dam's second turbine. The dam now supplies power to the Al Khafsa water treatment plant and Babiri raw water station, both benefiting more than 4.7 million people in the Aleppo governorate.
  • UNICEF and its partners have provided primary healthcare services to 95,937 people, including 74,256 children (37,074 girls) and 21,681 women.
