Highlights

  • An estimated 258,000 people are displaced into Syria from Lebanon since 23 September 2024 following an escalation of hostilities in Lebanon.
  • Around 30 per cent of those crossing the border are Lebanese, and approximately 58 per cent are of the population crossing the border are children.
  • Arrivals from Lebanon to Syria through the official border from Jdaidet Yabous remained slow after the air strike on 4 October which damaged the main road between the Lebanese and Syrian Borders. Airstrikes targeted again Jdaidet Yabous border in Rural Damascus and Al Qusair border in Homs on 10 October.
  • UNICEF, through its partners, continued to provide WASH services at the crossing points. Approximately 45,000 people were provided with access to safe and clean water, while 2,500 women and 3,000 children received hygiene support.
  • A total of 3,756 children (1,772 girls, 1,764 boys) under 5 years of age received treatment for malnutrition
