UNHCR Syria Situation Report for the North East Syria Humanitarian Emergency (As of 21 October 2019)
Four days into the ‘pause’ in fighting, hostilities continue to be reported with sporadic clashes taking place in Tal Abyad.
As of 21 Oct, more than 152,0001 people have been displaced from Hassakeh (96,088), Raqqa (39,463) and Aleppo governorates (16,640), including between camps. 80, 000 of the displaced are children.
43,000 people have returned to their places of origin – 18,000 to Al Hassakeh (8,500 to Qamishli & 9,500 to Al Malikeyyeh sub-districts) and 25,000 to Ar-Raqqa (18,000 to Tal Abyad and 7,000 to Suluk sub-districts)
Overall, 56 collective shelters (55 in Al Hassakeh and 1 in Ar-Raqqa governorates) are now accommodating 10,860 people (2,243 families). Assessments in collective shelters are currently ongoing across multiple sectors.
