Syrian Arab Republic: WoS - Wash Assessment 2022

Attachments

Over ten years of the protracted crisis in Syria has created and exacerbated large-scale humanitarian needs around water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) for the country’s population. The WoS WASH Sector needs assessment was designed in early 2015 with the support of the Global WASH Cluster, WoS WASH hubs coordination team, WoS WASH Sector partners, and specialized partners in-field assessments. The assessments were field-tested and executed in partnership with Humanitarian Needs Assessment Programme(HNAP) since 2016 on an annual or bi-annual basis.

The current assessment was undertaken again in early 2022 (1st round of 2022), implementing a similar design. The assessment is statistically significant, with a 95% confidence level and a 10% margin of error at the sub-district level, and the results are comparable with the previous years. The data were collected between 22nd Jan and 21st Feb 2022 by HNAP. In total, 26,042 face-to-face interviews were conducted with randomly selected households in 4,534 locations (one interview per household with the head of household or a household representative). The sampling is based on the latest available population data at the time of the assessment (December 2021) from the Mobility & Needs Monitoring population baseline from HNAP. The assessment covered all 269 populated sub-districts in Syria except a few in close proximity to active hostilities at the time of data collection
