HIGHLIGHTS
- The second winter and snowstorm hit several parts of Syria, including 37 IDP sites across Aleppo and Idleb governorates, and impacted around 2,800 displaced people.
- Heavy shelter damage, blocked access roads, and prolonged freezing temperatures continue to endanger families across Aleppo, Idleb, Hama, Homs, Lattakia, and Tartous governorates.
- Snowstorm resulted in extensive damage across displacement sites, with total or partial damage to 1,758 tents across Aleppo and Idleb governorates, flooding inside shelters, and exposed families facing freezing temperatures.
- Major mountain roads remain closed across coastal highlands, isolating communities. Access roads to camps remain blocked by snow and mud, hindering humanitarian access. Families in damaged shelters face increased protection and psychosocial risks.
- Humanitarian partners reached around 445,000 people with winterisation assistance since October 2025.
- Immediate priorities include safe heating solutions, emergency shelter repairs, winter NFI distributions, and road clearance to restore access for life-saving services. Without rapid scale-up, health risks for children, the elderly, and the chronically ill will escalate.
- USD 112 million is required to deliver life-saving winter assistance, yet only USD 31 million has been received, leaving a 72 per cent gap.
