OVERVIEW

As of 01 February, an extended ceasefire and integration agreement between the Government of Syria and the Syrian Democratic Forces is holding (announced 30 January). The agreement aims to further stabilise conflict-affected areas across North East Syria (NES). As a result, forces have withdrawn from the contact lines, and renewed returns have begun. Despite recent return movements, fears of potential clashes in Al-Hasakeh remain, with precautionary movements observed primarily from the front lines towards relatively safer areas. IDPs in Al-Hasakeh primarily reside in collective centres. IDPs in NES are in urgent need of multipurpose cash assistance (95%), non-food items including mattresses, cooking utensils, blankets (69%), food (63%), and health services including access to essential medicines (45%). In Aleppo, the ceasefire agreement announced on 18 January continues to hold, enabling the return of an estimated 66 per cent of individuals displaced at the onset of the hostilities in Aleppo (138,053 on 9 January). Although the situation remained relatively calm, localised security tension were reported in the past week, particularly in Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods. IDPs in Aleppo are in need of multi-purpose cash assistance, nonfood items (90% each), and food (75%). Notably, access to health services showed limited improvement, due to the support of clinics and medical centres in providing free or low-cost services.
