Syrian Arab Republic: Emergency Mobility Tracking Situation Report - Aleppo Conflict, Round 4 (14 January 2026)

Attachments

Aleppo Governorate has been affected by significant humanitarian impacts following an escalation of hostilities that began on 6 January 2026 in the northern neighbourhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyah, and Bani Zaid in Aleppo City. Displacement patterns have shifted rapidly following a reduction in hostilities, with the number of IDPs declining by approximately 60 per cent since the peak of displacement on 9 January (148,053). While this reflects a rapid return movement linked to localised stabilisation, the situation remains volatile. Priority needs of cash assistance, food, NFIs, and shelter for IDPs remain acute.

In parallel, a broader conflict front has emerged in eastern Aleppo in Maskaneh and Deir Hafer, prompting precautionary movements and the announcement that a humanitarian corridor would be opened from Deir Hafer and surrounding areas toward Aleppo city on 15 January. The situation remains fluid, and DTM continues to monitor developments.
