OVERVIEW

In support of the Government-led response, humanitarian organizations provided about 314,000 people with assistance in February and 142,000 people so far (in March), primarily in the most affected governorates of Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia. The numbers of collective shelters continue to periodically change, posing operational challenges across sectors and continue to disproportionately affect shelter rehabilitation and installation of WASH facilities. By the end of this week, Aleppo had 83 collective shelters while in Lattakia the authorities announced their plan to reduce the number of collective shelters in the Governorate to seven. In addition to the frequent change in collective shelters, inadequate resources continue to undermine assistance scale-up efforts. Addressing protection concerns and the provision of mental health and psychosocial support continues to be a priority.
