Syrian Arab Republic: 2017 UN Inter-Agency Humanitarian Operations (as of 17 May 2017)

Since the beginning of 2017, the UN and partners successfully delivered multi-sectoral assistance through inter-agency operations, reaching 638,000 people in besieged and hard-to-reach areas with dire humanitarian needs. A total of 17 inter-agency convoys have been undertaken, including one to Khan Elshih in which UNRWA and UN agencies reached 5,000 Palestine Refugees and 1,000 Syrian Nationals respectively. In addition, during 2017, 73 WFP-led airdrops dispatched 1,484.8 metric tons of food supplies for the besieged parts of Deir-ez-Zor city. The sixth round of food distribution for 93,500 people began on 29 March. During 2017, 217 airlifts to Quamishli have delivered 7,840 metric tons of food, WASH, nutrition, health and NFIs on behalf of the UN and partners.
