This weekly update provides a summary of recent displacement, along with developments from the UNHCR co-led Sector/Clusters of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), Shelter/Non Food Items (SNFI) and Protection.
KEY STATISTICS
- In total, 202,573 people have been newly displaced in northern and southern Syria due to recent developments. This includes:
o 79,319 people newly displaced in affected areas of Aleppo (64,152) and Idleb (15,167) governorates, northern Syria, due to fighting since 1 February 2016 (figures as of 10 March).
o 36,584 people newly displaced in affected areas of Al-Hasakeh Governorate, northern Syria, due to fighting since 1 February 2016 (figures as of 3 April). This represents an increase of 6,137 since 28 March.
o 86,670 people newly displaced in affected areas of Dar’a and Quneitra governorates, southern Syria, due to fighting from November 2015 to February 2016 (figures as of 29 February).
- According to Government of Jordan sources, there are over 56,000 Syrian asylum seekers at the berm (figures as of 6 April). As at 28 March, 29,246 of these asylum seekers have been registered by UNHCR (25,575 people at Rukban and 3,689 people at Hadalat).
