Improvement in the completeness of reporting was noted this week, which might be due to the distribution of mobile phones to the EWARS focal points in most districts.
The suspected measles case reported in Damascus (7th of April health centre, a boy, 13 years old) was discarded since the lab result of the blood sample was negative, while there is no information with regard to the other measles case reported in Deirezzour. Other investigation measures were also taken in both governorates.
Follow-up on the leishmaniais and typhoid cases in Almayadin district in Deirezzour were undertaken by the MOH; including shipment of the required medicines, ensuring sanitation measures and conducting health education sessions in accordance with available capacity.
Most of the TB cases reported in Aleppo were old cases who visited the centre for treatment follow-up, while the new cases were referred to the new TB centre in Albasel hospital. The difficulty in communication hindered the investigation of meningitis cases. For Lice and scabies, medicines were sent to the affected governorates.
