Highlights:
- 1 AFP case was detected in Tartous.
- A notable increase in number of AJS cases was noticed this week.
The Response
- AFP: Stool samples were collected from the AFP case and sent to the reference lab in Damascus. A subnational vaccination campaign was implemented between 4th and 8th January in hard to reach and low coverage areas.
- AJS: a meeting was held in the ministry of health in cooperation with the relevant ministries (Water Resources, Social Affairs) to develop a joint plan for hepatitis A prevention and control.
- SARI: Awareness bulletin has been developed and sent to the media office in MOH to be disseminated via media channels. Also participations in TV and radio programs are taking place to raise awareness about the disease and preventive measures.
