As the conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic is now well into its third year, around 9.3 million people are reported to be directly affected bythe crisis, more than 5 million Syrians have been internally displaced andmore than 160,000 of these are pregnant women. Over 2.2 million refugeeshave poured into neighbouring countries, of which more than 500,000are women and girls of reproductive age and an estimated 39,000 arepregnant.
The United Nations expects another 2.25 million more persons to be displaced within the Syrian Arab Republic and an additional 2 million Syrians to become refugees in 2014.
