Sweida: Crisis Update and Ceasefire Agreement - July 17, 2025

Attachments

A precarious ceasefire has taken hold in Sweida Governorate after an unprecedented surge in intercommunal violence. The Druze stronghold witnessed days of intense and deadly clashes, spiraling from localized disputes into a complex multi-front conflict involving Druze militias, Bedouin clans, Syrian government-affiliated forces, and unidentified armed groups. The rapid deterioration of security and significant external intervention have left the governorate grappling with a severe humanitarian crisis and an uncertain future and a possibly irreconcilable local context in Sweida.
