In January 2025, it has been agreed to conduct a multi-sectoral Whole of Syria Rapid Needs Assessment (RNA) covering all country to identify new needs and vulnerabilities within the evolving humanitarian landscape since 8 December 2024. The scope is to obtain a critical evidence base for response planning, identifying urgent gaps and informing strategic humanitarian interventions across Syria
The questionnaire was reviewed by all Sectors and a ToT organized in late January 2025. The data collection was conducted from 5 to 15 February 2025, employing a KII methodology. The assessment provides a comprehensive analysis of humanitarian needs, spanning all sectors while incorporating key cross-cutting themes such as inter-sectoral priorities, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Gender, and Access.
The WASH questionnaire is available upon request. This analysis of the data collected was prepared by the Whole of Syria WASH Cluster and released in March 2025.
The analysis do not include the RNA conducted in Northwest Syria in late December 2024, targeting 460 communities. Results are available here: NWS Rapid Needs Assessment. OCHA will release a final WoS-level report later on, harmonizing both assessments where they correspond.
