Türkiye – Wednesday, 11 June 2025 – The SRTF continues to support olive farmers through the delivery of harvesting, pruning and picking kits and the installation of greenhouses under, “Supporting Olive Farmers in Northern Aleppo”.
Through such deliveries, a total of 1,000 olive farmers will increase their capacity and productivity, while also improving the quality of their crops and reducing production costs. Such outcomes are given that the latest delivery of agricultural inputs included 1,000 harvesting toolkits, consisting of wooden ladders, oil metal containers and picking tools, 1,000 pruning shears and 1,000 pruning saws. This also follows a previous delivery of various agricultural chemicals, which farmers will also use to protect their crops from diseases.
Additionally, greenhouses, mobile offices, nurseries, parking areas, generators, storage rooms and fences have just started being installed and established across three locations, in preparation for the planting season.
Such efforts will contribute to expanding farmers’ olive cultivation, improving the general environmental conditions, enhancing agricultural services that support olive production, reviving the concept of agricultural cooperatives and ensuring greater food security and economic growth for long-term sustainability in the area.
With a budget of around EUR 1.89 million, this is expected to benefit 1,000 farmers directly and their 5,000 family members indirectly, over a period of 18 months, including six months for post-implementation monitoring and evaluation.
