NES NWG highlight 2024

• In 2024, 29,841 children (83%) were treated for Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) through the Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP), while 8,129 children (140%) received treatment for Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) via OTP, and 750 children (116%) received SAM treatment through the Inpatient Therapeutic Program. Additionally, 13,750 pregnant and lactating women (223%) received malnutrition treatment through OTP. In terms of nutrition education and support, 92,969 pregnant and lactating women (61%) received Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counselling, and 158,504 received IYCF messages (104%). Additionally, 43,256 pregnant and lactating women (82%) and 38,959 children under two years old (48%) were supported through Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) programs aimed at improving nutrition outcomes. • The NWG conducted TOT CMAM training for partners across four governorates. Training materials were prepared and facilitated by the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC). A total of 22 partners were trained from the four governorates. The training aimed to enhance CMAM capacity and equip facilitators at the NES level.

• 11 nutrition staff were trained on inpatient treatment for SAM with complications to provide services at the Stabilization Centre for children under five • As part of the CMAM program scale-up, NWG partners are operating 56 Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) centers to treat malnutrition cases in NES. In response to high needs, the number of OTP centers in Deir-ez-Zor has increased to 28, and three new centers have been established in Aleppo. This expansion was made possible through the provision of nutrition supplies, supported by one donor and two partner.
