Situation Overview

In Northeast Syria, numbers demonstrate that increasing numbers of people are moving out of emergency collective centres and into host communities. As of 05 January, the recorded number individuals in Emergency Collective Centers (E-CCs) in Northeast Syria (NES) was 25,880 (5,965 households). 193 Emergency Collective Centers (E-CCs) are open while 118 have been reported as closed.
For 28 consecutive days, more than 413,000 people in Menbij and Kobani have been deprived of water and electricity due to lack of repairs to the Tishreen Dam, which remains non-operational after being damaged during clashes on 10 December. NES NGO access to Menbij remains severely limited, while ongoing insecurity and violence in Manbij continue to affect market functionality and service provision, and the internal border crossing connecting Menbij to areas east of the Euphrates, including Raqqa governorate, remains closed by armed actors.
