Highlights

  • Syria: In February, IOM’s mental health and psychosocial unit conducted an awarenessraising session in Tartous for 680 IDPs and host community members. In addition, IOM responded to shelter needs of 25,820 individuals by replacing worn-out tents and providing insulation materials to IDP families in Idleb.

  • Turkey: In February, IOM launched a community -based protection project together with two mobile outreach teams in Hatay and Sanliurfa. The project aims to reach Syrian refugees living in rural areas where they cannot benefit from humanitarian assistance due to a lack of community centres and outreach activities.

  • Lebanon: In February, IOM’s mental health and psychosocial support team conducted various psychosocial activities for children living in collective shelters in South Lebanon. The activities tackled topics of resilience, conflict resolution, leadership, self-awareness, and motivation.

  • Iraq: IOM’s emergency health team conducts awareness-raising sessions for Syrian refugees in camps with awareness sessions on health topics including general personal hygiene, as well as treatment and preventive measures of communicable diseases. Between 1 and 28 February, IOM reached over 50 beneficiaries in Akre camp (Ninewa).

  • Jordan: IOM has started a new project by providing school transportation for students in Azraq camp. In February, the registration of children for the transportation service took place over three weeks throughout the camp, and will continue into March.

  • Egypt: During the reporting period, IOM and the Syria Algad Relief Foundation organized integration and social cohesion events for hos communities and Syrian refugees in Asharqia governorate. Over 140 Egyptians and Syrian refugees participated in the event.
