SITUATION OVERVIEW
Humanitarian situation in Syria remains critical as ongoing conflict continues to devastate civilians and infrastructure. Recent reports indicate that violence and movement restrictions have exacerbated the crisis across various governorates, notably Aleppo, where water supply issues persist.
A significant number of people, approximately 627,000, have been newly displaced since late November 2024. Economy is under severe strain, impacting public services and leaving many without basic needs. Humanitarian operations are further challenged by rising costs, while the health sector faces increasing morbidity rates due to winter illnesses.
With significant displacement and ongoing instability in Syria, assessments and situation reports reveals that a large percentage of households struggle with food insecurity, economic hardship, inadequate shelter, and limited access to essential services. Despite some improvements in security and a gradual return of displaced families, barriers remain in accessing livelihoods, housing, and basic necessities, which are compounded by social and cultural changes due to the prolonged conflict. NGOs operating in Syria need a comprehensive approach for humanitarian coordination to address these persistent and systemic issues.
IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation is actively responding by providing humanitarian aid, bread, wash and other essential supplies across the country, focusing on the most vulnerable populations.
This situation report presents findings on the multifaceted needs of crisis-affected communities, emphasizing challenges across various sectors including food security, economic wellbeing, health, education, and protection together with IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation’s responses in the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
