Urgent attention and increased financial support are vital to address the deepening crisis in Syria amidst a broader decline in humanitarian funding.
Displacements from Lebanon to Syria continued following an escalation in active hostilities. Between 24-30 September, according to the UNHCR Flash Update, 128,000 Syrians and Lebanese had crossed into Syria.
The UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator (RC/HC) for Syria, Adam Abdelmoula, and Regional Humanitarian Coordinator (RHC) for the Syria Crisis, Ramanathan Balakrishnan, called for de-escalation in the region.
The first inter-agency (IA) mission to the eastern bank, Deir-ez-Zor, took place on 1 September, and a 10-day IA crossline mission to Alouk water station, Al-Hasakeh, took place from 13 to 30 September.
The de facto authorities commenced the eviction of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from collective shelters in Al-Hasakeh City to Tala’aa/Serikanie Camp.
Since mid-September, the oil derivatives crisis in Syria has significantly worsened impacting transportation fees and commodity prices.
