Situation overview:

  • 7.8 magnitude with multiple strong aftershocks; struck 23 kilometers in Turkey's Gaziantep province, at a depth of 24.1 kilometers.
  • Affected areas: Aleppo, Hama, Latakia, Idleb, Tartous governorates. 764 deaths, 1,448 injuries – MoH.
  • Lattakia: 321 death cases; 735 injured. Temporary shelters: 44 families (170 people). 53 buildings collapsed.
  • Aleppo: 156 death cases; 507 injured. Most affected areas: Shaar, Kalaseh, SalahEddin, Myassar, Akabeh, Azizieh, Baroun, Ein Al Tal, Nubol, Zahra, Bustan AzZahra, Azamieh, Fardous, Salheen.
  • Hama: Most affected areas are within the city of Hama. 43 deaths (6 of them in Sqelbiya). More than 100 injured - admitted in the hospitals (28 in National Hama hospital. 36 in Squelbiya general hospitals, and 40 in other private hospitals). The affected neighborhoods of the city: Arbaeen- Elaylat- Janoob Almalaab- Harat Alsamak-Garb Almashtal Qusour.
  • Tartous: 30 injured.
  • Gaziantep: At least 700 people have been killed and more than 2,000 injured. AFAD Türkiye: a total of 2,921 people lost their lives in the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis and Malatya; 15,834 people were injured.
  • The death toll and casualties are expected to be increased as more people are discovered under the debris.
