SITUATION OVERVIEW

1. Situation Overview – Displacement & Influx

As per UNHCR (28 October), an estimated 460,000 people have crossed the border (70% - Syrians, 30% - Lebanese) from Lebanon to Syria. There are reports that up to 800,000 people have actually moved into Syria.

UNHCR Qamishli Flash Update N11 reports about 54,000 people crossing into NES, including more than 34,000 to Raqqa, 14,000 – Deir-ez-Zoir and 7.200 – Hassakeh.

2. Situation overview – AWD/Suspected Cholera Alert in Al Hol camp {based on WHO situation report N2}

On 11 October, WHO was notified that AWD/suspected cholera cases had been detected in Al Hol camp. The cases were identified by health facilities within the camp that are part of the WHO-supported EWARS. A WHO team visited the camp to assess the situation and provide technical support for alert verification and initial response actions.

As of 26 October 2024, 55 cases of AWD/suspected cholera have been reported in Al-Hasakeh governorate, 39 of them were positive upon testing with cholera RDTs, while 9 were positive by the confirmatory laboratory culture and serology done at the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) central public health lab (CPHL) in Damascus (8 in Al-Hol and 1 in Al-Hasakeh). Out of the 55 cases, 45 are from inside Al Hol camp, while 10 are from outside the camp (4 in Al Hol town and 6 in Al Hasakeh city).
