General developments & political & security situation

  • The Syrian Kurdish YPG militia said on 03 December it had fully captured Deir al-Zor’s eastern countryside from Islamic State with the help of both the U.S.-led coalition and Russia.

  • Miqdad, meeting the National Committee of Syrian expatriates in the Netherlands: Unity of Syrian land and people is an indisputable principle.

  • The United States will cease weapons supplies to the Kurdish People's Protection Units as was promised earlier to the Turkish leadership, US Defense Secretary James Mattis said.

  • SAA, in cooperation with the Russian Coordination Center, secured delivery of humanitarian assistance convoy, provided by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and International Red Cross, to Afrin city in northern rural Aleppo.

  • Some 100 persons, among them 40 gunmen, in Daraa province have had their legal status settled on Sunday in the framework of the continued local reconciliations in the province.

  • 27 cities, towns and villages joined local reconciliations in southern and eastern rural Homs, in presence of several local dignitaries, member of Homs Governorate’s Executive Office, and representative of the Russian Coordination Center in Hmeimim.

  • Prime Minister chaired a meeting on the "Syria after the crisis" program, prepared by the Planning and International Cooperation Commission (PICC), in coordination with all ministries and relevant institutions. Head of PICC said the program had 5 pillars: institutional, service, economic, social and political.

  • Al-Hassakeh: Mar Afram Syriac Development Commission inaugurated a medical center in Al-Hassakeh city center, to provide free medical and therapeutic services to patients … the center was funded by WHO.

  • Syrian Arab Red Crescent branch in Deir Ez-Zor provided health services and medications to dozens of families in AlMayadin city, and its physicians examined 1,150 patients and provided them with the necessary medications.

  • Airstrikes continue to hit IDP locations in Deir-ez-Zor, reportedly leading to many casualties

  • 3,700 families return to GoS-controlled areas of Ar-Raqqa governorate

  • Mass displacement to Idleb due to hostilities is north-east, southern Hama/ eastern and southern Idleb governorates
