1. Situation Update
The 15th of March marks 12 years since the beginning of the Syrian crisis. Earthquake-affected areas already had high levels of vulnerability and the earthquake has created yet another shock. Syrian livelihood systems were severely affected. Millions of Syrians continue to face challenges in sustaining livelihoods and accessing basic services.
The main needs identified by ERL partners include:
✓ Immediate support in debris removal in the affected governorates.
✓ Providing emergency livelihoods and job opportunities for the most vulnerable earthquake-affected
households.
✓ Supporting the resumption of economic activity in the affected areas by providing emergency support to
local shops and businesses.
✓ Assessments stressed the urgent need for the rehabilitation of basic productive infrastructures.
