Action for Humanity and Syria Relief’s response to violent escalations in Northwest Syria

Over recent weeks, the humanitarian situation in Syria has deteriorated to levels not seen in years. Without immediate international intervention, millions more men, women, and children will be forced to flee from their homes. As winter arrives in Syria, this crisis will spiral beyond control.

As of November 27, at least 14,000 people have been displaced from Greater Idlib, with a further 200,000 expected still to be forcedon. All education services have been shut down, and millions have been left without suitable healthcare as around a dozen medical facilities have suspended services due to the threat of increased violence.

As the region and her people brace for a bitter winter, Syria can’t be left behind by the rest of the world.

Syria Relief and, our parent organisation, Action For Humanity have launched an emergency response, providing hot meals, food kits, water, emergency relief items and evacuation services to the thousands of families who are trapped in the crossfire. We’re working to ensure that families have access to psychosocial support, and those who have been chased from their homes have warm blankets and heaters.

However, this is not enough. What Northwest Syria needs right now is increased humanitarian aid, and immediate international support in advocating for the protection of civilians across the region.

For 13 years, we have seen crisis-after-crisis hit Syria and claim thousands of lives. Despite the challenges of operating, and the waning international attention, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the people of Syria - but we cannot do this alone. We and Syria need greater support, greater attention, and increased donations.
