WFP suspends activities in northern Jonglei after attack

The World Food Program (WFP) says it has temporarily suspended its activities in the northern part of Jonglei state following an attack that resulted in the killing of its staff in Duk county on Friday. WFP's Coordinator in Southern Sudan, Leo Van Der Velden, said that staff is being moved from the area to Bor.

He added the Sudanese staff who was killed in the car ambush was training national humanitarian organizations in food distribution methods. WFP said the attack is not only a setback for the organization, but for the people who have been benefitting from its work in the area.
