Highlights
• In November, WFP assisted 4 million people, including 1.2 million in areas identified as facing famine or at risk of famine. This represents 53 percent of the food-insecure population in areas facing famine or at risk of famine.
• Of the 4 million people assisted, 1.8 million received in-kind general food assistance, 1.2 million received cash-based transfers (CBT), 506,000 children under five and pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls (PBWG) received integrated nutrition support, 456,000 schoolchildren received school meals following the resumption of the school year in parts of the country, and 44,000 people received assistance through resilience interventions.
• WFP's Deputy Executive Director undertook a mission to Sudan from 11–15 November to reinforce strategic engagement with the Government of Sudan and key international partners amid one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. The visit spanned Port Sudan, Atbara, Khartoum, Wad Madani, Gedaref and Kassala.
• Despite generous contributions to date, WFP faces a USD 695 million funding shortfall over the next six months (December 2025-May 2026). Life-saving food and nutrition assistance are most affected, placing millions at risk of losing assistance. Rations have already been reduced and prioritized for the most vulnerable. Without urgent funding, further cuts and the suspension of support for some communities are imminent.
