HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Sudan conflict has precipitated one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, marked by widespread displacement, famine, and systemic attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
  • According to IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix, over 10.5 million people are internally displaced across Sudan’s 18 states, including 8.1 million displaced since the conflict began. Additionally, 4 million have fled to neighbouring countries.
  • WFP is facing severe funding shortfalls and impending pipeline breaks threatening its ability to support critical humanitarian operations across the region. In Sudan, funding shortages have already disrupted nutrition programmes and cash-based transfers in May, with critical in-kind food assistance facing an imminent breakdown by June.
  • A total of USD 881 million is required for the Sudan Regional Crisis from May to October 2025, including USD 698 million needed for Sudan and USD 183 million for neighbouring countries.
