HIGHLIGHTS

  • The war in Sudan is fueling the world’s largest humanitarian and hunger crisis, threatening stability across the region and beyond.
  • Although the humanitarian crisis in Sudan persists, IOM has recorded the first decline in displacement. By the end of March 2025, over 15 million people had been displaced, including nearly 11.3 million IDPs and 3.9 million refugees and asylum seekers who have fled to neighboring countries such as Chad, South Sudan, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
  • In Sudan, a shortage of nutritional products is expected starting in May due to funding shortfalls affecting both preventive and therapeutic programmes.
  • In response to the crisis in Sudan and neighboring countries, WFP is delivering life-saving food, nutrition support, and cash assistance to meet urgent needs. Working with partners, WFP also strengthens food security, builds resilience, and ensures displaced populations have access to essential services.
  • A total of USD 803 million is required for the Sudan Regional Crisis from April to September 2025, including USD 650 million needed for Sudan and USD 153 million for neighboring countries.
