Highlights

As of June 2025, prices of all major food items and crops showed an upward trend compared to May 2025:

❖ Sorghum: The national average price rose to SDG 1,640 per kilogram, marking a 12% increase from the previous month and a 63% jump compared to June 2024.

❖ Wheat Flour: Prices surged to SDG 4,739 per kilogram—26% higher month-on-month and 143% higher than the same time last year.

❖ Goat (Livestock): The average price edged up to SDG 194,395 per head, a 7% increase from April and a 110% rise year-on-year.

❖ Groundnut: Prices climbed to SDG 77,150 per kantar, reflecting a 38% monthly increase and an 81% rise compared to June 2024.

❖ WFP Local Food Basket: The cost reached SDG 2,670 per unit, up 15% from May 2025 and 111% higher than a year ago.

❖ Sudanese Pound: The currency weakened by 2% on the parallel market, trading around SDG 2,650 per USD, representing a 44% depreciation year-on-year.
