In March 2025, cereal prices experienced a slight decline, while prices for groundnuts and livestock saw an increase.

  • Sorghum: The national average price slightly declined to SDG 1,400 per kilogram, representing a 6% drop from February 2025 but a significant 125% increase compared to March 2024.
  • Wheat Flour: Prices fell marginally to SDG 2,739 per kilogram, down 1% from the previous month but still 100% higher year-on-year.
  • Goat (Livestock): The national average price rose to SDG 164,211 per head, marking a 17% monthly increase and a substantial 210% rise compared to March 2024.
  • Groundnut: The average price increased to SDG 52,475 per kantar, up 4% from February and 71% higher than the same period last year.
  • WFP Local Food Basket: The cost dropped to SDG 1,824 per unit, a 5% decrease from the previous month, yet remains 101% higher year-on-year.

Sudanese Pound: The local currency appreciated by 2% in the parallel market, trading at approximately SDG 2,528 per USD. However, this still reflects a 100% depreciation compared to the same time last year.
